Definition & Principles of Volunteering. Volunteering is the commitment of time and energy for the benefit of society and the community, the environment or individuals outside one’s immediate family. It is undertaken freely and by choice, without concern for financial gain and many times a labour of love. Thank you 2016 RHMSA Executive Team for your dedication and compassion towards the kids and community of Richmond Hill and for a fantastic season!

Volunteering for RHMSA is a great way to give back to your community. If you’re interested in volunteering for RHMSA please contact us at dir.comm@rhmsa.ca.

A HUGE congratulations to Richmond Hill Minor Softball Association after making its mark in August, at the OSSTA (Ontario Select Softball Tournament Association) Provincial Championships. With 18 teams competing from all over Ontario, the two U12 all-girls Select teams displayed much depth and talent. While the White Diamonds lost 3 close round robin matches in their debut U12 championships, the Green Extreme coached by James Bland and Monica Bland impressed with a 3-0 record and allowing only 2 runs on the first day of pool play to advance to the quarter finals. On day 2, the Green Extreme faced stronger teams but their solid pitching, impressive defence and strong batting brought the team to the championship game. Although they held the lead throughout the majority of the final game, they eventually gave up the gold to Brantford 9-8. Despite the loss, Richmond Hill took home the silver medal! Congratulations to the coaches, families, league and especially to the girls who achieved their goal this season by working hard, playing smart and following their dreams.
Your goal was to medal in every tournament and you did. Way to go girls!

It was a nice way to end the season with a kids vs. parents game. The parents came suited up, determined and ready to play. The kids (young ladies) were there to have some fun and a few giggles. The parents took an early lead but the kids rallied back ending the game in a 7-7 tie in the 6th inning. Unfortunately, after a Snapchat playback review that was also shared on Instagram of a questionable parents inning at bat, an illegal batting position was used which nullified 2 runs for the parents. This gave the kids the official win of 7-5. Sorry parents, maybe next year? Congratulations parents and kids for a game well played!

Both RHMSA U12 Select teams participated in Forest Glade’s (Windsor area) “Pink-Out the Park” softball tournament, in memory of Forest Glade’s Novice All Star Select assistant coach DJ Lafreniere who passed away in 2016. In their first out of town (2) day tournament, the “Pink” Extreme played hard and represented Richmond Hill by securing and winning the bronze medal. Congratulations coaches, players and parents!

5 games and a 15 hour day at the softball diamond, these girls played hard, dug deep and won the silver medal where 12 teams competed in the OSSTA Etobicoke Select Tournament. This U12 Select team understands that medals are won at practice and tournaments are where they pick them up. Congratulations coaches, girls and parents!
